Autome.me – the tech news blog you need to know about!
From learning to use the keyboard to developing a monetized web platform, this cohort of 5 young adults embarked on a journey that has made everyone around them immensely proud.
“I thought of it as a typical computer course that would teach me typing and other basic skills” says Iqra “but as soon as I attended the orientation I knew this wasn’t just any other computer course, it had a purpose and we had to work our way towards it”.
The “purpose” that inspired Iqra was to develop employable digital skills in young adults through a process of curated self-learning. This process began by getting the students comfortable in the use of computers. Yusra, the phenomenal Khud member mentoring this cohort revealed that for the first year they exclusively learnt MS Office and honed their word processing and spreadsheet skills.

Followed by this, the cohort was asked to work on a project on automation; their job was to research and create content on automation and find ways to attract an audience. To achieve this, they had to learn content writing, web development and digital marketing. With a rudimentary knowledge of all three they dove in and started learning as they went along doing their project. Yusra helped them get acquainted with SEO techniques, Squarespace and WordPress, tools that came in handy in the creation of Automeme.
As students grew more confident about their skillset, they were asked to pick domains they would like to specialize in and work on for Automeme. Laiba picked digital marketing, she was enthralled by the number of people she could reach via the internet.
“People in the olden days used to put up posters for publicizing their products, today the internet has made it very easy to reach thousands of people at the click of a button” explained Laiba.
Laiba’s and her colleagues signed up for Udemy courses in their domains of choice and soon were ready to publish and run Automeme. In the initial days Automeme hosted content from other tech blogs but as traffic on the website grew the cohort decided it wanted to publish original content. The students went on to sign a contract with TechJuice – Pakistan’s most popular tech blog – to outsource content development to them, focusing their energies on gathering an audience for the platform.
The Automeme team unleashed their digital marketing skills and hit social media in grand style, raking in followers on Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook, to a cumulative organic following of more than 10k! Currently the team is learning to play around with Google Analytics to devise a data fronted marketing strategy for their platform.
Khud takes great pride in contributing in ways it did towards making Automeme a success. We at Khud are really excited to see what this amazing group does next and would like to keep the world updated about their progress. Watch this space for all the latest on Automeme!
