Khud student bags admission to highly coveted LUMS NOP Coaching Program
In November 2016, 12 year old Amina Iftikhar accompanied the Khud team to attend a conference at LUMS. She described her experience as being mesmerized by the ivy covered buildings and the buzzing atmosphere of the university campus. To the people around her she had returned with just a certificate and some words of appreciation but for the 12 year old it instilled a burning ambition to overcome all odds to earn a place in the best educational institute in the country.
Amina recounts that this dream seemed so farfetched that she herself gave up on it many times. Swayed by conventions she considered pursuing a career in medicine but keeping in touch with people, who had been to LUMS, Khud team members in this case, kept her on course. Explaining the choice for her prospective major – computer science – she remarks that making presentations on Artificial Intelligence and learning to code in Scratch played a huge role in shaping her interests in the field. She believes these experiences emboldened her to envision a future in the world of computers; one where she could provide for her family and satiate her drive for knowledge.
We at Khud are immensely proud of Amina’s achievement given the highly selective nature of the program. Our team has witnessed firsthand her unwavering hard work; she stood first in her school at the matriculation level and has been consistently on the top in her academy at the intermediate level. It was her commitment and belief that motivated our team members to go the extra mile in helping her with the daunting applications process – Amina successfully kept both herself and her counselors on track!
In the next leg of the journey, Amina will go through a rigorous LUMS summer NOP coaching program, where she’d be tutored for SATs and the LUMS Subject Test for her admission to the School of Science and Engineering. If the admissions committee, which will also include her NOP coaches, deem her fit for LUMS, she will be awarded the prestigious NOP scholarship. It will cover expenses for tuition, accommodation, food, study material and much more.
The entire Khud team is rooting for Amina and can’t wait to see her shine at LUMS and beyond.
